Meta Fired Employees For Alleged Information Leaks

Hey there, folks! Big news from the world of Meta (formerly Facebook) – Mark Zuckerberg has shown some employees the exit door due to concerns over internal leaks.

Meta Waves Goodbye to ‘Roughly 20’ Employees

Recent reports suggest that Meta has bid farewell to around 20 employees on grounds of leaking internal information.

The Verge reported that Meta took this step after discovering leaks of confidential discussions to the public. In a statement by Meta spokesperson Dave Arnold, it was mentioned,

“We tell employees when they join the company, and we offer periodic reminders, that it is against our policies to leak internal information, no matter the intent.”

Despite these warnings, leaks persisted, prompting Meta to take action. The company confirmed the termination of approximately 20 employees following thorough investigations.

“We recently conducted an investigation that resulted in roughly 20 employees being terminated for sharing confidential information outside the company.”

Meta’s Hunt for ‘Leakers’ Continues

Meta’s concerns over internal leaks have been a recurring issue. The leaks include sensitive details such as unreleased product plans and internal communications.

Earlier this year, Meta’s Chief Information Security Officer Guy Rosen highlighted the negative impact of leaks on security and employee morale,

“When information is stolen or leaked, there are repercussions beyond the immediate security impact. Our teams become demoralized and we all waste time that is better spent working on our products and toward our goals and mission.”

Rosen warned of strict actions against guilty employees, including terminations. Meta has a history of taking such measures in response to information leaks.

“We recently terminated relationships with employees who leaked confidential company information inappropriately and exfiltrated sensitive documents.”

As Meta continues its crackdown on leaks, more terminations are expected to follow.

“We expect there will be more. We take this seriously, and will continue to take action when we identify leaks.”
